Now the sea change!

We’ve been rather slack with the blog of late as quite a lot has happened since October. On November 18th Matt and Erin headed off overseas for a year. They will travel around South America for quite a while before meeting up with Erin’s folks in Canada in June next year. Phill is finishing off his PhD and he and Mara are currently living in West Footscray as his landlady wanted to live in the Northcote house herself.
I finished work in the Grampians in November and at the end of the month we moved to Skenes Creek, and I started work in Apollo Bay on 30th November. Frank is probably well and truly over moving house as not only did we move but he also helped Matt & Erin move out of their place in early November and helped Phill & Mara to move from Northcote to West Footscray before that!
So we have had the tree change and now we’re having the sea change. We decided not to start a new blog as two blogs and a website (www.rooswithaview.com.au ) is enough!

We have already had quite a few visitors which is great – Fay and Brett came for dinner during our first week here, followed by Red & Yvette before they went on holiday, then Mal & Morag while they were visiting friends and family in Australia, then the van der Peets between Christmas and New Year and then Carol and Stephen last weekend. The cooler climate obviously has more appeal than the excessive heat in the Grampians at this time of year. Anyway enough waffle, don’t have many photos as yet so these are courtesy of Mal & Morag and Carol & Stephen – thanks guys.

We didn’t realise that Mal and Morag hadn’t visited the 12 Apostles and Loch Aird Gorge before and so we joined the throngs of overseas visitors and drove towards Port Campbell stopping at the obligatory tourist points. It was blowing a gale but nice and sunny.

We were sad to see Mal and Morag leave and we hope they’ll come back again soon!

Talking of sad to see people leave, Carol and Stephen came down for three days last weekend and we had a lovely old time. It passed way too quickly and once again sad to see good friends go home. Carol and I enjoyed early morning walks, including a walk from home into Apollo Bay (a walk we had also done with Mal & Morag) and we all went for a swim / boogie board – although as far as my abilities are concerned it was more like “How much salt water can one person ingest!

hoping to catch a waveI spend a lot of time waiting for a good wave, and then often missing it completely or getting dumped :-)

carol catches another waveWhereas Carol catches a lot more waves and rides them right into the beach, while if I have caught the wave I generally fall off the board.

flying saltwaterNice shot that Frank took in the surf – still using Stephen’s waterproof camera.
