Quiet wet weekend

We had a pretty quiet and wet weekend. Matt and Erin arrived on Friday night with Evie and Daphne. We spent a lot of time watching the rain through the windows. I took Daphne and Evie for a walk but Evie nearly pulled me off my feet, my goodness but she's strong, such a little bundle of muscle.

We had homemade veggie soup and toasted sandwiches for lunch and then for dinner the boys had roo with chilli sauce while Erin and I had chicken with satay sauce and lots of veggies. Erin made the self-saucing chocolate pudding. So a lot of food and not much exercise. Ian came around for dinner and it was great to hear them all discussing the many countries they had travelled to and their plans for future trips. We didn't realise but it was actually Ian's birthday. He and Matt are almost the same age - only about 9 days in it. As you can see Evie mad herself at home on Ian's lap at every opportunity.

Today we watched more rain (how good is that) and we watched the dogs wrestling and fetching the tennis ball. Matt and Erin did some more holiday planning, or dreaming, and then more homemade soup with toast topped with homemade pesto and homegrown tomatoes. This wet weather is great but I don't think I'll hop on the scales just yet.

Erin Matt and Evie

Frank and I took Daphne and Evie for a quick walk while Matt and Erin packed the car but Daphne wasn't too keen on the wind and the rain. I think she was glad to get back home and into the car for the trip home.

The other good thing was that Matt helped me to pick two hotels for when we arrive in and depart from Venice on our way to and from the Dolomites. It turns out that Venice is a very expensive place to stay. We managed to find a couple of places that look reasonable that had triple rooms for around $160 a night as we will have Anni with us.

I also booked the accommodation in Arabba and the hire car so it's all done now apart from reconfirming a couple of B&Bs in late June/early July. Less than 15 weeks to go now and so I need to get some more training/walking in.
