Walking with Carol and Steve - Rosea to Borough Huts

Having completed the warm up walk on the previous day we packed lunch and headed out on the Sunday for a slightly longer and more strenuous walk. We left one car at Borough Huts and then parked the other at the Rosea car park. The official walking track goes around the back of Mt Rosea but we took the climber's access track to the base of the cliff, pointing out where Frank had carried Matt from some years back now. Then we headed up the Grand Stairway. This is the view from the top but Frank has also created an entry in Every Trail that contains more photos.

We then continued on up to the top of Mt Rosea and the views were magnificent. This is taken from Mt Rosea looking back towards Halls Gap and home.

Frank and Steve both took a number of photos to stitch together once back home. The image below is the result of Frank's photos.

On the way down from MT Rosea towards Borough Huts we stopped to look at the seed on some Gahnia as it was quite a vibrant red.

But then I spotted something else much more intesting, pimelea seedlings and quite possibly Pimelea pagophila.
When I got back to work I checked and there wasn't any record of them there but I will be back in spring when they flower to check on them :-)

Pim Pag perhaps

The track down to Borough Huts had a couple of quite steep sections in it and by the time we had finished the second steep downhill bit I realised I was going to need some exercises to strengthen my knees before August comes around, as they were quite sore after just 8kms and as the shortest day on the C2C is 16.5km and the longest 26.5km I think I have a bit of work to do!

Despite the sore knees we were all still smiling when we got to Borough Huts campground, and my knees were fine once we were back on the flat. In the picture below where we came from is the peak in the background of the photo.

When we got home we could see where I would have been if Carol and Steve hadn't been visiting - out burning. This is the view from the front veranda - it was still burning on Thursday and that's where I spent all day driving around to keep an eye on it in the windy warm weather.
