Postcard from the girls
Dear Mum and Dad,
we’re having a lovely time at the beach with Oma and Opa, you can see by our footprints that sometimes we get the beach all to ourselves. We like that because then Oma or Opa let’s Daphne off and she can chase the ball. She gets pretty thirsty but there are creeks she can lie down in to cool off and get a drink. She’s getting pretty good at chucking up while running flat out to get the ball too, hardly breaks her stride. There’s lots for me to do (eat) too. There’s those tasty salty bones that Oma calls a holdfast or something and lots of jelly stuff, but my favourite is the long dead fish that I dig up from the sand. That might have been why Daphne and I threw up on Oma’s carpet, so she doesn’t let me eat everything I find anymore, which is a shame.
It’s quite exhausting at the beach and after we get home and have breakfast or dinner it’s time for a bit of a nap. If Opa is home at lunchtime and the weather is fine we go out on the deck and lie in the sun while Oma and Opa eat lunch. Daphne still scratches a lot despite the special food so Oma tips her upside down and spreads cream on her, glad she doesn’t do that to me. I don’t think Daphne likes it! Sometimes Oma and Opa take us for a walk alongside the creek instead of the beach. Tonight was very exciting as there were these little woolly white things making a funny noise, and then we found lots of very fresh cow poo on the road and no matter how hard Oma tried to stop us we still managed to eat quite a lot, it was yummy.
Wish you were here,
Evie
