Fauna Galore
I wondered where five-legs was this morning and finally found him hiding under my breakfast bananas. Unfortunately he appeared to have invited his girlfriend over and she was hiding under my shower cap, although she only just fitted. Anyway I wasn't sure my human house guests were going to be happy sharing with the arachnid couple this weekend, and so I have evicted the pair of them, I hope he goes Ok outside with only five legs!
Yesterday was the last day of mammal monitoring. We checked all the cages and the elliot traps for the last time and closed them down until early November when the whole thing gets done again. Today I saw swamp rats, heath mice, an agile antechinus and the cutest of all a pigmy possum. I didn't get to see the ordinary possums or the not so ordinary blotched blue-tongue lizard or the dusky antechinus as they were on one of the other transects a far way off through pretty thick scrub. I wore my glasses for most of the day as it was too cloudy for sunnies and too prickly for no glasses at all :-)
