Fire and water

Feeling a bit down tonight - stupid really because I am sure that Matt will be fine but I'd still rather he wasn't heading off to a 650,000ha fire tomorrow!
I will look forward to seeing him on his return on Christmas Eve.

Phill tells me that after his Uni Christmas do that his colleagues took to his dreadlocks with scissors so it will be interesting to see what his hair looks like at the weekend. I'm sure he'll look very cute.

It's very quiet at the office at the moment with about half a dozen of our guys plus half the summer fire crew away at the fires. They are rotating staff to try and avoid fatigue setting in as they expect the NE fires to burn for quite some time. As one guy at work said "God lit them and only God can put them out". So for those of you out there with a religious bent please pray for rain, and I'm talking a decent rain not the bits of drizzle we have been having.

We were wondering if it had really been so hot that the bird bath was evaporating on a daily basis until we saw the size of the "bird" it was attracting :-)

Frank says the photo looks fake. I think it's because everything is so very very dry. That and the little bright grren beetles that overtook the front of the block appear to have decimated our tea tree.
Frank says I shouldn't worry about Matt because he only has accidents when Frank is around. I think his words were "he only breaks when I'm around". Best go to bed before I end up in even more trouble with the boss!
