Kinda Moved In

We are getting closer to being organised!

Despite the crowded nature of our premises, Matt and Erin (and Daphne (the dog)), along with their friends Jamie and Katherine, visited last weekend. Jamie kindly installed some fans in the spare bedrooms and a light/heater/fan in the bathroom. We had one bedroom set up for our guests but Matt and Erin had to sleep on the new futon in the lounge because the 3rd bedroom is still chockers with items to move to the shed.

The shed is still not finished but it does have a roof, sides and a concrete floor.

It was to be finished (doors, windows, etc) this weekend but unfortunately the guy building the shed for us has injured himself - cut his leg and required "3 stitches on the inside and 12 stitches on the outside". On the other hand, maybe it was fortunate for him that he did get injured because the temperature has been high-30's low-40's for the last few days so he might have expired from the heat trying to finish the shed!

Despite the shed not being finished, we have started moving stuff from the front veranda to the shed. As you can see it was rather crowded out there!

We also took 16 boxes of books from under the house and put them in the shed. We have retrieved 4 more boxes of books that have my Wodehouse collection (including the first editions) and a few other books we want to keep handy, so we can store them inside.

Yesterday we sorted through all the pictures that moved up here from Chandler St. Most of them have gone up on the wall somewhere with a few relegated to be stored in the shed or sent to the op shop in Stawell.

I did fire training 2 weeks ago so I can get accredited as a fire fighter. It also opens the possibility of being employed as a fire fighter over the summer months. At lunchtime on the Friday of the course they offered me a full-time position on the fire crew starting on the next Monday. I had to decline the offer because I had already committed to working for BEA in Melbourne the next week.

In fact, I have a 3 month contract to work 2 days a week helping BEA until they replace me. I will drive to Ararat station for a 7:15am train that will get me into Melbourne at 9:30m. I will work the day and stay at Matt and Erin's that night. After work the next day I will catch the 5:55pm train back to Ararat that lands at 7:55pm. I should be back in Halls Gap by 8:30-ish - quite civilised really.

By the way, for those of you trying to find us we are here.
