Ben Nevis fire

I didn't go to the Gippsland fires after all but I did spend 2 days at a fire somewhat closer to home, Ben Nevis near Elmhurst. We spent the first day patrolling to make sure there were no spotovers from the back burn we were doing and the following day blacking out.







One of the tracks led to a hang glider launch pad, the view would have been fantastic if it wasn't for the smoke!
It's been a good weekend really despite having to work. Frank kindly cooked dinner for friends so we had a pleasant evening last night and then today my good friend Noel called in to see us on his way back from the Jazz festival. It was lovely to see him again - can't believe he's 70. Hope I look that good if I make 70 :-)

The cockatoos have found the bucket of water in the front garden. If they start attacking the house we' may have to empty it to discourage them - shame as we like to see all the other birds, and even the roos coming in for a drink.
