Borneo, Kuching: Well...Damai Actually

Our afternoon flight from Mulu got us to Kuching Airport at around 4:30pm. From there it was roughly an hour to our choice of accommodation - the Damai Beach Resort on the Santubong Peninsula 20kms north of Kuching.

This is what we did while we were there...

Well OK - a little bit more than nothing...

We realised that since Tioman Island more than 5 weeks ago we had woken up every day with an appointment to keep - planes to catch, trek for the day, tours to go on, etc. We decided that we needed a holiday at the end of our holiday and booked into a resort that had a pool, a beach and restaurants. It was also next door to the Sarawak Cultural Village which features heavily in the tourist things to do in Kuching but, guess what, we didn't even get there!

We spent 2 and a half days by the pool, reading and doing cryptic crosswords, getting wet when we got hot, drinking beer when we got hotter and eating breakfast and dinner (breakfast was free and so filling that we didn't bother with lunch).

And so ends our holiday. We are posting this last holiday entry from Singapore Airport during our 5 hour wait for our plane to take off. It has been 6 weeks of non stop action and, as with any of our holidays, we are really (really!) looking forward to sleeping in our own bed!
