Day 3 - Forest Camp to Low Camp

Because we were now at the height where the air starts to get thinner today was to be an "easy" day. Mukti said 2 to 3 hours. When quizzed about the distance Mukti maintains that he doesn't know. As far as he is concerned all his "tourists" need to now is how much time the walk will take.

Steve lined the boys up for a group shot but he scored a ring in. The guy who owns the campsite we used decided to join in the fun (brown baseball cap in photo). We wouldn't have minded so much if we weren't a bit annoyed at him over his dog. It barked overnight which set off every other dog in the area so by the time they had all barked at each other there was a dog barking somewhere all night! Apparently the Nepalese are so used to this that they generally sleep through it.

The start of the walk looked quite daunting. It went straight up the steep hill behind camp. Needless to say the boys took off with their loads like it was a simple stroll. We were huffing and puffing within the first 200 metres - I like to think it was the altitude but I suspect not. The walk was primarily through rhododendron forest again so lots of scrambling over and around roots.

As it turned out the distance was just over 3 kilometres but we went from 2,400m to 3,000m. Mukti's logic was that the height differential was significant for us sea-level dwellers so we needed to acclimatise by approaching our highest point in short increments.

When we got to camp we were greeted with hot lemon drinks and a good view if the Annapurna Range. As the sun set it lit up the part of the top of Fishtail but we still couldn't see the full "tail".
