Week One

Got up Wednesday morning and went into the kitchen to make a cup of tea, when I glanced out of the window I saw this guy in the neighbour’s garden – totally unconcerned he lifted his head stared at me for a moment and then went back to eating the lawn.

It was quite a cold morning with a touch of frost but when the mist and frost cleared we were left with a beautiful day. This is the view from our office window.

Carol came up on the train to Ararat on Wednesday night for a quick visit. Mike kindly agreed to let her come to work with me on Thursday and we went out to look at some water infrastructure in the park. We found a few moments to take photos of one another :-)

I'll try putting the photos in a separate post!

While we were out we saw a Wedge-tailed eagle trying to devour a rabbit it had caught on one of the tracks. We startled it and it took off dropping the rabbit but when we drove away it was still circling overhead waiting for us to go so that it could return to collect its meal.

Frank arrived on Friday night and on Saturday we went to Black Ian’s Rocks for a couple of climbs. On the way home we drove down the Asses Ears track and stopped twice for two separate groups of Gang Gang Cockatoos that were drinking from the puddles in the track.

Sunday Frank and I did a multi-pitch on Mt Rosea. The view from the top was fantastic.

I had to disallow comments on this post because I got a lot of "spam" comments, sorry. If you have comments they'll have to go on another post. I have made the blog a lttle less visible, so hopefully less spam.
