Monday - Daly River
Sunday we drove back into Katherine and managed to find a second internet cafe where Frank burnt the photos to a CD. We tried unsuccessfully to find out if the track from Daly River to Licthfield was open yet or not, but as no-one knew we headed north to Edith Falls, deciding to try again in Pine Creek on the Monday.
Frank was quite excited when he found out that the track had just been opened so we headed off to Daly River for a look see and to camp at Perry's as recommended by Mick and Sal. Fortunately Perry's was almost deserted as recent occupants had headed off to the Darwin Show. We got a nice camp site on top of the river bank (too steep and high for the crocdiles to climb up) in lots of shade.
The owner took us for a quick trip to see his private billabong which is about a kilometre long, and on the way we met up with the only other resident at the place who goes there every year and he had caught two huge Barramundi (in the billabong). It also contained crocodiles and white-bellied sea eagles. They lokk after orphaned Agile Wallabies so the place was lifting with them but it was nice to see that they were still quite wild. All you can see of the Joey in this shot is a very long tail poking out of mum's pouch.

We didn't have much in the way of supplies because we didn't really think we would end up at Daly River but we didn't starve either and the frozen Mango made a good ice block for the car fridge. After dinner if we stood up and shone the torch down into the water we could see the red reflections of three crocodiles in the water below.
