Thursday - Gunlom

I coldn't persuade Blogger to let me load picture of Jim Jim Falls on the previous page.
We were going to visit Twin Falls but after seeing Jim Jim with water (an unexpected bonus) and as you can't swim at Twin Falls we decided against it and headed off south instead towards Gunlom.

Gunlom was wonderful. Another really pleasant national parks campground with good facilities and not too crowded. There was a rock pool you could swim in at the base of the falls but we opted to walk to the top of the waterfall where there were a series of beautiful rock pools with water so clear you could see to the bottom. If you sat in one the view behind made it look like you were sitting on the horizon.

We spent a pleasant hour or two swimming and watching the birds and the butterflies - do you see pattern developing here? Yes, we spent a lot of time swiming in rock pools, admiring the bird life and at some places sitting in the dark with a small fire watching the flickering flames and marvelling at all the stars. I even saw a shooting star one night.
